Last September 6, 2008, I attended the WordCamp Philippines 2008 held in the College of St. Benilde. It was both exciting and nerve-wracking as it was a day of firsts for me.

  • This is technically my first blogger event. But hey I looked at this more as a web developer event though.
  • My first time to ride the LRT-1. At first I wondered why it wasn’t jampacked as I’ve been told it would be, but then I realised it was a weekend and not a regular school day.
  • In relation to that, this was my first time to go to a huge event by my self. Adventure! It’s been a while since I tested my navigating abilities by my self.
  • My first time at the College of St. Benilde and in a really really cold theater, thank goodness I had half the mind to bring a jacket. smiley

I had to commute though so I wasn’t able to bring my laptop or a digital camera. But hey, no excess baggage! More room to bring home freebies. Hee.

All I can probably say about the event has already been mentioned by more than fifty blogs already, being a week late.1 And I wouldn’t want to be just an echo in the wild.

But I will say this: It has been a very unique experience for me. Time constraints aside, it would have been lovely if I were able to attend all the breakaway sessions. Not to mention that I met a wonderful couple, Nel and Roselle, with whom I spent the whole event with.

And by golly people: I saw Matt Mullenweg, Mr. Wordpress him self, in person!!! Got a picture with him too! Which will be kept under lock in key because… um… it got taken a few seconds before I was actually ready. smiley

Thank you to the WordCamp organisers, volunteers and sponsors for bringing the event to reality! Here’s to WordCamp Philippines 2009!

WordCamp

I’ve been a Wordpress geek as far as I can remember. Ever since I realised it can be a powerful CMS for almost everything, I’ve used it practically with any site that needed dynamic functions. And I have been coding and integrating with Wordpress since then.

I then discover that there will be a WordCamp here in the Philippines, and I can’t possibly miss the chance of signing up to learn more how to utilise the powers of Wordpress and meet fellow Pinoy Wordpress enthusiasts.

WordCamp Philippines will be on the 6th of September, at the College of St. Benilde Taft Ave., Manila. Anyone who wants to come with me?
