With the long weekend, I have been catching up with sleep, Japanese dramas, personal layout projects, and more sleep. So yes, I’ve tried to maximise the three days as much as I can. smiley1

So far, I have finished watching Bambino!, Proposal Daisakusen and Monk.

Bambino! is a cooking J-drama with Matsumoto Jun. I got it because I am a fan of Italian cooking (and actually all food in general smiley ) It’s a bit heavy for me though so I only kept staring at the food they served. If I can’t spend money on food, I’ll just imagine eating it then.2

Propsosal DaisakusenI like Proposal Daisakusen, as it is a sweet love story. The premise of this one is that the guy is in love with is best friend, but the girl is already being married to another guy. He is then given an opportunity to go back in time to propose to her. But I can’t help but sometimes feel like hitting the main protagonist, played by Yamapi, with a clue by four.3

I’ve started on the first season of Monk around the first week of July, but it was only yesterday that I got to finish it. It’s another American detective show and it ss about an obssessive-compulsive and *phobic detective, also with heightened observational skills. Quirky characters + sleuthing = geek love for Kyameel. smiley

Next week is another long weekend and I am looking forward to finally finishing the last season of Dead Like Me and catching up with Hanazakari no Kimitachi e.

And oh, sleep. smiley

  1. It only comes so rare these days, so I better!
  2. Weird logic I know.
  3. Sorry, Flori.

Shawn & Gus

I’ve been meaning to post about this show for quite some time now, as I am hooked and waiting for the second season.

Psych is an American dramedy TV series about a guy with “heightened observational skills” and detective instincts that he passes off as psychic abilities.

Yes, it’s a mystery show. A mystery show that doesn’t take itself seriously but works like a charm. The script is witty and the cast of characters are engrossing. And I’m a sucker for mystery shows peppered with humor.

I first saw commercials of this show on cable, and for all it is, I just thought it was interesting, with a naive psychic and a too-goody bestfriend. But after watching the first show, I was hooked.

Our so-called hero is Shawn Spencer (James Roday), son to a retired and captious police officer. With the assistance of Burton Guster, ‘Gus’ (Dule Hill), they solve different mysteries as psychic consultants to the Santa Barbara Police Department. And it is frightfully amusing to watch how Shawn, our bogus psychic, interact with the characters around him and do psychic impressions.

Shawn with his psychic impression

Shawn doing one of his psyhic impressions during a public investigation as Gus looks on.

The rest of the cast did their roles well. With Corbin Bernsen as Shawn’s father, he was perfect for the role. Always finding fault in everything Shawn does. Dule Hill as Gus pulls off a goody-goody guy and reminds me too much of someone I know.

There is clear character development and they draw you in with a certain charm, although continuity of plot is a bit contrived. The 2nd season is coming by this Friday the 13th, and I can’t wait! (It also helps that Tim Curry is in it hehe).

How typical of me.

Just when I get interested in something, it’s out of circulation already.

Take Andromeda smiley for example.

Yes. Gene Rodenberry’s Andromeda. A Sci-fi TV show that is considered by some people I know as low quality. Or something of that sort.

I like the characters~ The story. And reading the episode guides, I wanna see the story in action.

I’m a sucker for sci-fi flicks. And egads, I fell for Adromeda. And just when I finally fall in love with it, I find out this week that it has already been ended — for one and a half year already.

Damnit! This is one of the reasons why things I like are so hard to find, or what the beloved said as I love rare items.

The final season is being shown locally via AXN (and 2 more weeks and it’ll soon be no more…smiley, and I could only watch the first parts of episodes every morning before leaving for work.

The only other way to watch it is get copies of it’s VCD/DVD. Which is not available locally, and that would mean scourring online for it.

Gaaah~

Dammit. Firefly is easier to acquire than this! And Andromeda has 5 seasons while Firefly only has 14 episodes!!! smiley
