Iron Man

Okay, seriously, I think I may need help. I watched this movie for the 3rd time already (last seen it this evening) and damn, I still don’t get tired of watching it. There’s also that 50/50 chance of watching it with a friend, but that’s still just a possibility.

And yes, it’s that good!

I must stop fangirling now…

*runs off to sleep*

Stark with his suit

Watched Iron Man last night with the Beloved and dayum! No words can explain how completely floored I am by it. In my limited vocabulary, all I could keep saying around people is that “no words can fully express how the movie is completely made of win and all kinds of awesome!”

For lack of a better description, I walked away out of the theatre feeling so cheerful and awesome.

I am not really familiar of the Iron Man mythos. I only know about the character because of the Beloved, who kept lending me copies of his comic books, and from short references from the animated TV series from old. Though I am not a raving fan, the movie has created one in me. And a skipping and jumping one at that.

I somehow knew from the beginning that Robert Downey Jr was the perfect Tony Stark. Sorry, He IS Stark. Not once do you doubt him in the movie, confident and snarky. The rest of the cast isn’t that all bad either. And they are a perfect complement to Stark’s profile. One thing I also loved about the movie, are the realistic physics of the things happening– From the impact of the sonic boom to the high altitude problems one may encounter when flying. And of course, the endearing fire-dousing robot. smiley

And oh! Stay for the end credits! smiley

All in all, a great and awesome movie. Highly recommended! And yes, I’m still at a loss for words.

The Spook’s Apprentice

And here I was squeeing. The announced upcoming Spook movie has changed directing hands. Instead of Tim Burton, as previously announced, it will now be Kevin Lima. [source]

Am a bit apprehensive from the source though. Learning wizardry? Tom nor the Spook don’t have powers, much less be wizards! Sixth sense, yeah, but wizardy? So, um, yeah. I hope they get their facts straight, soon. smiley

About the director, I am not that disappointed, but not eager about it either. Lima directed some Disney movies I liked, eg. Enchanted and A Goofy Movie, after all. But I can’t help feeling that with him at the helm, the movie won’t be something I’d expect it to be: dark, surreal but at the same time warm and familiar.

I’m not sure I made my self clear though. Anyway, I’ll wait and see. 2009 is still far away to judge the whole pre-production. I am still optimistic about this.

For the meantime, I’ll be anticipating the release of the fifth book, The Spook’s Mistake, in June. Oh dear! It’s almost June!
