Serenity

Serenity

I’ve been hearing a lot about this movie (through a number of webcomics I follow). It intrigued me, so when I went to the sites they linked and learned of the premise and set-up. I so want to watch it.

Serenity? What?

It is from the creator of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel, Joss Whedon (sp?)

I must admit, I’ve watched Buffy in it’s first few seasons (the later ones are a bit of a drag for me) and Angel (the English *geek* is soo~ cute! At least, I think he’s English).

Deviating from the ‘goth’ of these 2 shows, came Firefly. A sci-fi tv series that only reached a small fanbase. It seems that due to the small audience, the network cancelled their show abruptly. As shortlived as it is, the afterlife of the show boomed. Fanbase grew through messageboards and fileshares. And seeing this opportunity as to give the series a fitting end, Whedon continued the project and made a movie out of it, entitling it “Serenity“. And was shown in a private screening for the fans.

I’ve seen the trailers, and I’ve seen the background. And being a sci-fi/ fantasy follower, I was very much intrigued. And I knew I had to watch it. But seeing that it only started as a small fanbase abroad, the possibilty of it being shown here is minute. I don’t think many of us here have even heard of it (aside for the knowledgable sci-fi fan). Either I search for a download online, or wait for it when it comes out in DVD (as well as the series). That would mean I have to finally get my self a DVD player. *lol*

Whoa! Deja vu! This is exactly how I felt searching for the Discworld books. I want something, but with minimal demand, there is no supply. And here I am again, crossing my fingers. One way or another, I’m gonna see this movie!

EDIT:
Real Life Comics translates exactly how I feel!

It was a really good movie. Really good. But if you’ve watched Firefly, I’m sure you’ll be more attached to the characters.
