My dreams have become increasingly more realistic as the days go by…

“Pass the torch!” The beloved said, as he kicked and growled.

I threw the burning branch at him, and he caught it accurately. He quickly spun and drove it towards the creature’s chest…

It was just supposed to be a visit to a long-lost friend. A holiday, after searching for a document I couldn’t find.

Why did it have to come to this?

I am getting ahead of myself again… Shall I start from when all this began?

It was an ordinary weekday. I had a long day’s work unfinished, but I had to go home and relax. I rode the bus, but it was too late to realize that I took the wrong bus!!!

The bus was headed the opposite direction and straight at where my boyfriend lives.

It was late, so I had no choice but to stay in the ride until I get to the bus stop.

I casually walked towards their house and knocked. His sister greeted me, and asked if I could stay for the night.

She said with a smile, “Sure! You can stay in my room with me!”

I prepared my self to go to bed after a short chat with the sister. But the boyfriend came a knocking and quickly pulled me away.

“Ei!”

“Quick, we’re invited to a party!” He said, pulling me out of the apartment and into teh street.

“Weh? This late? I’m tired~ And how in the world did they know I was coming over?!?”

He shrugs and hails a taxi.

I could only stare as he pulled me into the vehicle.

The taxi dropped us off infront of a bungalow at a not-so-faroff place from where we came. But only one light was on, and it was from a room farther in.

“Hun? Are you sure the party is tonight? Or even this late? It IS a Thursday, and Friday is tomorrow, y’know? I know how you are with dates.”

He smirked at me and shrugged. “Well he said to come over ‘NOW’, and that was 15 minutes ago.”

I rolled my eyes, “Did he say it was a party?”

“Yes, he said it’s a party.”

“A sleepover perhaps?”

“Perhaps.”

We knocked on the door, but no one answered. We looked at each other and tried the door.

It was unlocked. We then let ourselves in.

“Hello?”

It was dark, and held on to the beloved’s hand.

“ANGRN?!” The beloved started, but I couldn’t understand what he just said.

– I presumed he called out our friend’s name. But I couldn’t make out what he exactly said. –

We couldn’t see into the house any further.

I yawned. “I guess no party. Maybe we should go then~”

I tugged on the beloved’s hand, but he wasn’t taking notice.

“We need light.”

He moved forward a few steps, pulling me along with him. “Ei! Branches!”

My eyes had already adapted to the dim surroundings and saw what he saw. Big branches. Kindling?

This is a modern bungalow, why would they need kindling?

That is when I noticed that the floor wasn’t cemented. It was soil.

“The house seems unfinished,” I said out loud. I reached for one of the walls, and indeed the wall hasn’t been smoothened out. They were raw cement bricks.

“I guess we can use this then,” The beloved picked up two branches and gave one to me. He took a lighter from his pocket and tried to get the branch lit. He always had a lighter with him, even if he didn’t smoke…

As soon as we got out branches converted into stone-age torches, we suddenly hear a rustling sound.

“What is that?”

“ANGRN?!!?! ARE YOU THERE?!”

– I *know* the beloved called out our friend’s name, but why in the world couldn’t I hear it? –

No response, only more rustling.

“Come on,” the beloved pulled me towards the sound, and deeper into the unfinished house.

We entered into a large hall. The dining room? But there were no furniture, except for a lonely chair.

And there was a lit doorway up ahead.

“Let’s go that way,” I pointed.

The beloved nodded. We walked forward, but my right leg couldn’t move. Something was holding me back. I looked down to see what it was.

I screamed.
