Parties and Umbrellas, Part 2

Silliness ensues…

“What the?”

A girl that was nearest to me smiled at me, with a cocktail in hand and a white frilly parasol.1

I forced my self to smile back, albeit a bit crookedly. This was all weird to me. The whole house was filled with people, and across the room was our friend.

The beloved was already pulling me forward towards our friend so I let myself be dragged. But before I could go farther, the girl pushed the handle of her parasol into my hand and disappeared into the crowd…

Before I knew it, we were in front of him. And he was all smiles.

“I’m glad you made it!”

“Uhm… are we late?” The beloved asked.

“No, no, you’re just in time!” He smiled. “Come eat! Have fun!”

The beloved and I looked at each other. Were we just hallucinating? A mass hallucination?

Our friend led us to the buffet table, and upon seeing the food I realized I was famished.

I quickly grabbed a plate and took food. The beloved only took a cup for a punch.

A couple of hours into the party, more people had arrived. And we were just standing at the buffet table. For a party, it was just a chatty event. As we didn’t know anyone else, we were silent.

And then suddenly all the lights go out.

And silence. There were no screams or gasps of the sudden *black out*

Just silence. I quickly held on to the beloved.

“Maybe we shouldn’t have gone back in?” He whispered.

“Now you tell me…”

We quickly tried to find a way out of the house in the dark.

The once filled room was suddenly empty…

We find a door and open it. It led outside, probably the backyard of the house. But there were 2 undead creatures pacing outside. It looked like we had to get past them.

They haven’t noticed us yet, so we had a bit of time to device a plan. Across the yard was a tall wall that stretched for miles from right to left. And how to reach it and get over it will be our plan.

Somehow we find a way to reach the wall without being seen. We managed to climb the wall as the bricklaying of it had been uneven.

Reaching the top, we see a large man-made pool that can be compared to the Laguna Lake. And in the middle of the large pool was a large old tree. Think Iifa Tree from Final Fantasy 9. Can’t? Nevermind.

And to lead to it, there is a wire from the house’s roof connected to a branch of the tree. Electric wiring? Perhaps.

So the question is, to the water or to the tree?

We both look at the water, filled with beach balls. We then look at the tree, tall, old and menacing.

We decided to go for the tree.

But how?

We can use the wire to get there, but will it hold?

I give the beloved the parasol. It was all we had.

He then hung the handle of the parasol over the wire, he grabbed me, held on tight and jumped the fence…

…or technically, slid the wire using the umbrella.

It was going smoothly. We were almost to the tree.

But the line didn’t hold.

The wire snapped, and we fell into the pool, splashing water.

As we rose above the water, undead people in swimming trunks and swimsuit greet us with toothless smiles. They were also holding some of the beachballs.

Apparently, we fell into a pool party… for the undead.

Before I could try to think of anything else, one of them shouted in a slurred manner–

“Dodgeball!!!!”

“What?”

As usual, the beloved was more alert than I was, and quickly pulled me up and out towards somewhere. I realized he was pulling me towards an open gate at the end of the pool.

But a line of more undead in swimming gear blocked the way.

“Start!!!” A familiar voice started.

Sure a game has just started, but I was more concerned that I wasn’t properly clothed for it. smiley

We continued running to that direction and the beachballs started flying in. Too many balls, and there were only the two of us in defense mode.

We running to and fro, from one side to the other. And the barrage of beachballs just won’t stop.

My legs were already heavy, with water seeping into my thick pants.

As quickly as it started, the attack stopped.

We looked around, and see the decomposing faces of the undead. They looked serious.

None of the balls had hit us yet. And they want this done.

“That was a great game!” The familiar voice spoke again.

The both of us turn to see where it was coming from. It came from one of the tree’s branches.

It was our friend.

“What is the meaning of this?!” I ask him, shouting.

He only laughed.

“Finish them!!!”

The beloved started walking forward, teasing the undead ball handlers. He danced (yes, yes he did), “Try.”

I hoped that he had a plan.

He then pulled me towards him and we both dived into the pool. It was suddenly deeper. We dived under and under and under…

And we swim back up.

smiley

And getting out of the water…

I wake up.

In my bed. I felt tired and feel like I haven’t slept at all.

And still no clue as to where the missing document at work was. What a Thursday night! O_o

  1. So that’s the umbrella!!! *ahem*
