How much is that gear in the window?
It’s official, I have GAS.
GAS is Gear Acquisition Syndrome, said to be generally acquired by guitar owners/ players, but can also be anyone else’s dysfunction of choice.

I already have a functioning laptop bag and a laptop sleeve for my Macbook. And I already have a pen tablet to assist me in controlling the mouse pointer when I find the track pad tricky. But why, oh why do I still want more?
Trying to justify some things lead me to 2 simple kinds of answers:
- I need alternatives!
- My black laptop bag is heavy and not good or regular days. I need another one, lightweight, for everyday commute.
- My laptop sleeve is a bit “loose” and not “shrunk to fit” for my 13″ buddy. I need one that is slim and fits easily into the bag.
- I need a lightweight mouse that I can bring with me.
- I just want have them!!!
- My laptop is too classic! I want a laptop bag that doesn’t look like a laptop bag.
- I want a more fashionable laptop sleeve!
- I just want a wireless Mighty Mouse!
Granted, the 2nd category also falls in the aesthetics, but hey that’s why it’s under the “Want” category.
So, here comes the Need vs. Want debate. Do I really need these new things? In the case of the laptop bag, yes. My aching shoulder and back tells me I need a lightweight bag if I don’t want to find myself with the chiropractor… again.
How about the laptop sleeve? I do need it for the security of my own laptop. My current sleeve is too loose and the only thing that seals it is a velcro tape. And it’s bulky when I put it into my laptop bag, and there’s not enough room in there as it is.
And the mouse? I leave my pen tablet at the office as I use it more there, and I only take it home during weekends. I don’t have anything to use at home as my little Genius of an optical mouse of 2 years gave up on me.
Why an expensive Mighty Mouse then? Why not another ordinary mouse? It works well with your Macbook anyway?
Since I’m buying a new mouse for Ai, I might as well buy one that is really for Ai. And dabnabbit, it’s wireless! No cords!!!

Maybe I should stop justifying this to myself and my budget and get right to the chase. I already had my stash of loot for this month anyway (after paying all bills, of course). And I am still within budget! With savings!
I am now an owner of a wireless Mighty Mouse and a LArobe Sleeve
I am now eyeing either the Considerable Embarassment or the Hee-Goer, both Crumpler bags or the LEvertigo shoulder bag. (Why yes, I’m a shoulder bag person, why do you ask?)
Next month? Or the next one? Really need to save ya’know?
