Disappointment

Let me tell you now. I suggest that you DON’T watch “The Da Vinci Code”.
Yes, the movie. Yes, the one that has been hyped by the book. Yes, that one that almost got banned by the church.
No. Not because it “ohmigosh! it will destroy the church!”
Why?
I don’t know if this can be considered spoilers, but am putting them behind the more tag anyway.
Note: I read the book. The beloved hasn’t yet.
1. Even if people who read the book would say it was almost followed to the letter (not counting the Langdon intro), it was dragging. If you’ve read the book, you’re just counting moments onto the next chapter. If you haven’t– you’ll find it not that intense. Action scenes lack *action*. and I’ll say this again– dragging.
2. Predictable. Read, it was so predictable. Too predictable. I was expecting a plot twist at the end, or heavens, SOMEWHERE. But none. I was just given a visualization of the book. It was like a book reading only with pictures. Nothing new. Heck, I already read Narnia but I still enjoyed the movie.Unread, it was still too predictable. The beloved hasn’t read the book, but it seemed he knew what was going to happen next– except the part what Magneto Gandalf Ian McKellen’s true role. But that too was a bit almost predictable for him.
3. There was no sense of urgency. I’ve read the book. I found it page-turning. The characters were totally pulling you into the story to run with them and find the truth. Here– Langdon and Neveu made it look like a walk in a park. It didn’t seem they want to find out the truth at all at once. But then that’s just me. I asked teh beloved about it, and he said he found no sense of urgency. There. Going back– in other words, dragging.
4. What’s to be banned? The shocking-truth-that-will-shatter-the-world card hasn’t been played well that it if you didn’t watch closely, it just passes you by. You can’t even feel the *importance* of “the truth”. Har!
Just so you don’t think am being too evil about this movie. (Because frankly, I like the book better).
I like the Louvre. I wish I could go inside that beautiful museum all the works for my private viewing. Har!
Seriously, I like how Paul Bettany portrayed Silas. And aslo Magneto Gandalf Ian McKellen. The old man still has it. He got the role of Leigh Teabing well– as a fanatic and crazy old man. But hun was saying his character reference might as well be Magneto. *laughs*
Otherwise… I’m really disapointed with this movie. For a person who read and liked the book, I was expecting something more. But I was only given a “movie-zation” (is that even a word?), a visualization of the book. Or are my standards too high?
Heck. Hun and I liked National Treasure more. *sigh*
Thanks for the info!
