NaNoWriMo had to be put on hold for a few more days, due to more pressing concerns. But hey, 3820 words for 3 days isn’t bad. But because of this I’ll have to play catch up once this project is done.

I can say that the long weekend has been productive:

  • 3820 words down;
  • Drafted a template for a friend;
  • Initially finished Ossu! Tatakae! Oeundan! and started on the second game (a cracked and fun rhythm game for the Nintendo DS);
  • And I can now wield Joomla!TM((They have it trademarked, so I have to keep the exclamation point and the TM.))

Joomla!TM is another open source CMS, like Wordpress. It is supposedly scalable and highly adaptive to the needs of a growing website. And really, I was overwhelmed when I took a peek at the administrator panel.

smiley — I literally had this expression on, despite my lack of sleep.

As I delved in deeper, I realised it was actually easy enough. Once you figure out how to insert content and how the content items management area work with the modules. Boom! I also learned that it’s highly advisable to already have a site architecture as it will make it easier for you to create a template for it. And I also realised it has a lot in common with the ColdFusion-based CMS we use at work. So if I can wield that, I definitely can wield this.

But yeah, to highly customise it to your needs, you have to know basic programming or at least know how to tinker with PHP so you can edit some parts in the components and modules. But hey, that’s what tutorials are for!

I now have an additional skill set! smiley

Next on the to-learn list: Drupal.

And oi, with all this, I learned I still love Wordpress. *hugs WP*
